Time for the taper!!

My second post today, but I had to write about my run. After doing the Sun Run and flying back to Toronto yesterday, I wasn't sure if I would have it in me to complete my scheduled 32k LSD. This was the big one...my last super long run before the big race. I headed out with the intention of just running loops around my area, but I ended up going downtown. I ran up to Finch first, then down Bathurst to Wilson, across Wilson to Avenue, then all the way downtown. It was nuts. It was difficult. There was a lot of traffic, so it was not the most pleasant run. I stopped at a Mac's store (I stopped my timer) to buy a bottle of gatorade and had to wait about 5 minutes while the 5 high school girls in line in front of me bought their junk food. I continued my way downtown and the frustration continued, as I had to stop at so many red lights. Then I got a bit lost around the Roger's centre as I couldn't figure out how to get around it and go to the harbourfront. I eventually got onto the Martin Goodman trail. By then, I was struggling. I felt like I was barely moving. I took several walk breaks, every 1k or so. Headed west on the trail for a few km, then turned around and went back downtown towards Union station. I wasn't sure how far I had run at this point, because Garmin kept losing signal with all the tall buildings. I ended up running 31k, plus the extra distance I walked to get to Union station. So, I figure I covered 32k in 4 hours :) I did it!!

20 days until the Mississauga marathon, and my remaining LSD's are only 20k and 13k. It's taper time!!

Great job getting the LSD in despite the set backs. You know you are ready now. :)

Thanks for sharing about the Sun Run. Brings back many memories of Vancouver...
