Bring it!

Half marathon training back ON!!

I probably had a few too many pain au chocolat and croissant in France...fortunately I didn't gain any weight (what's the name of that book...French women don't get fat?). I have only 6 weeks to train for the Toronto half marathon. Normally, I would follow Hal Higdon's 12-week training plan...since I have to jump in at week 7, I am going back to the Novice schedule. Maybe it is still possible to improve my time from last year, since my training base this year is higher and I have an extra year of experience. Maybe. But, I suppose that I shouldn't put pressure on myself. Let's just aim to it finish strong.

Today's run: 11.85 km
Time: 1:25:45
Pace: 7:14/km
Calories burned: 774 (yay)
Feeling: good, no walk breaks taken

Not bad, considering that it's been awhile since I did a run over 10 km. I was really pleased that I was able to do it without walking. I am considering trying to run the half marathon with no walk breaks. However, that would mean that I have to learn how to take my gels without walking...haha :) I guess that will be my next challenge.

Welcome back Anners! I read some of your posts on the RR forum and thought I'd check out your site. I loved reading about your journey to becoming a marathoner. Very inspirational! Later this month I'll be signing up for my first 1/2 walking marathon (2007 Edmonton ING) - best to just sign up and get the training underway as soon as possible. I'll definately be checking in again. Great blog.
