Smog alert, heat advisory and high humidity are conditions that would make anyone unhappy, but they are brutal for those who participate in outdoor sports. The heat this week has had a very negative impact on my energy level, motivation, and quality of my workouts. My car does not have air conditioning, so by the time I get home from work I feel exhausted from the heat. I don't feel like cooking or eating, much less exercising. I suppose the solution should be to get up early and do my workout before work, but the heat exhaustion seems to carry over and makes it difficult for me to get up early. Even running on the treadmill seems like a chore. I hate making excuses, but it's really tough to get out there sometimes!
